Story
In April 2026, I will be taking on the huge challenge of running the London Landmarks Half Marathon for a cause that is incredibly close to my heart. Thank you so much in advance for donating whatever you can — it truly will make a huge difference.
It’s safe to say I’m not a distance runner. At 40 years old, this will be the first time I’ve attempted any running beyond school sports day sprints! But after what has been a challenging eight-year journey through infertility, IVF, and pregnancy loss, I’m now at the end of that chapter and focused on what comes next. Despite all the heartache along the way, that journey was worth it to be able to birth and now raise our miracle three-year-old son.
For years, I’ve been faced daily with what my body couldn’t do. So I’ve decided to turn that on its head and focus on what it can do. As I looked for a way to commemorate the baby we lost in October, I noticed that this half marathon takes place on 12th April — the day after what would have been their due date. When I applied for a place through the Miscarriage Association and was successful, it felt like a sign.
Training so far has helped me cope with the feelings of loss by giving me new goals each week and something positive to focus on. As challenging as it is, I’ve already begun to love the runs and what they’re giving me back.
Miscarriage affects so many families, yet it’s still often hidden in silence. Through our own experience, we learned just how heavy that silence can feel, and how isolating it is to navigate loss without support. The Miscarriage Association provides understanding, community, and real-world help when it’s needed most — because no one should have to go through miscarriage alone.
I’m running to raise funds and awareness — and also to run towards something hopeful.
Thank you so much for supporting this cause. Your donation will help ensure that anyone experiencing miscarriage receives the understanding and support they deserve.
