Sophie's fundraiser for Royal Papworth Hospital Charity

Cambridge Half Marathon 2025 · 9 March 2025 ·
On November 15th last year, my Grandad had a heart attack just days after his birthday. He was initially being treated at Hinchingbrooke hospital, only to be transferred to the Royal Papworth Hospital a few days later when we were informed that he had had a heart attack. The hospital was very welcoming and looked after my Grandad with great care. After carrying out numerous tests very efficiently, we proceeded to find out that he needed quadruple heart bypass surgery. Within just 13 days my Grandad was diagnosed and operated on and was back home shortly after.
The staff were amazing throughout the whole experience and explained everything thoroughly; we couldn’t be more grateful.
My Grandad is now home and is well on his way to making a full recovery.
To show our appreciation to Papworth Hospital and the staff, my mum and I will be running the Cambridge half marathon to try and give just a little bit back to them for thanking them for saving his life.
