Story
Group B Streptococcus is the UK's most common cause of life-threatening infection in newborn babies and of meningitis in babies under age 3 months.
On average in the UK, at least:
-two babies a day develop a group B Strep infection
-one baby a week dies from their GBS infection
-one baby a week survives with long-term disabilities – physical, mental or both.
Yet most group B Strep infections are preventable. Group B Strep Support informs families & health professionals about group B Strep to save tiny lives.
As a group of friends we want too do as much as we possibly can to raise awareness of Group B step and honour Nova whilst supporting her parents James & Acen.
Nova was born sleeping in December 2022.
They have been through something no one should and whilst grieving their daughter they faced a long wait too understand what happened.
They later learned that the cause of Novas death was Group B Streptococcus.
We would like to raise both awareness and money for the charity that are working tirelessly to prevent other families suffering the devastating consequences of this infection.
As a group of friends alongside Nova's parents, we will be running the Sheffield 10k on September 24th.
We also want too run it on behalf of all babies lost through whatever cause and on behalf of all the families that will forever grieve their loss.
