Just over four years ago on 27th October 2019, what started out as a normal Sunday turned out to be the worst day of my life. My lovely brother Nick suddenly died, he had taken his own life. Even writing it now just doesn’t seem real. Nick was the most kind, generous, caring and loyal person you could meet. He adored his family and would do anything for them. Although he’d had a few health problems, we had no idea he was suffering so much inside. Losing someone to suicide is impossible to comprehend. So many unanswered questions, feelings of guilt, anger, so much pain and disbelief. I don’t think you ever accept it. I miss my brother so very much. He was loved by so many. I know I can’t do anything to bring Nick back but I want to try and do something positive in his memory. If I can raise a bit of money for this great charity that offers support for people who are struggling with their mental health then that would be amazing. More than anything I want to raise awareness, get people talking - especially men. It really is ok to struggle, to ask for help. If you’re struggling please reach out.
