Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

For those of you who know us, you’ll know that in 2021, my stepdad, Mark Hind was diagnosed with early onset dementia at the young age of 63.

After what was devastating news for our family and a life-changing diagnosis, Mark joined the Vicky McClure Dementia Choir — and honestly, it changed both his and my mum’s lives.

The choir helped Mark find his sparkle again. He threw himself into every event, singing his heart out and making memories along the way — from the NTA Awards to Christmas light switch-ons. More importantly, Mark and my mum met people who became friends for life.

Sadly, over the last six months, Mark’s dementia has significantly progressed and he is no longer able to sing with the choir. Despite this, the choir continues to support my mum. She still attends and gets the social and emotional support that she needs more than ever right now.

I honestly cannot thank the choir enough for everything they have done for Mark and my mum. They have given them both so many special memories, friendships and moments of happiness during an incredibly difficult time, and I will be forever grateful.

In honour of Mark and my mum, I am running the Nottingham Robin Hood Half Marathon on 27th September to raise money for the Vicky McClure Our Dementia Choir.

Any support, no matter how big or small, would mean so much to us. ❤️

Thank you for taking the time to read our story and for supporting something that means so much to our family.
