Story
Why?
Reason that I want to help axolotl conservation and help to save them
I find axolotls very fascinating and want to make the lakes in Mexico suitable for them to survive and live in. I like animals and I hate that us humans as a species have polluted Mexico’s lakes to this extent and we are able to cause this much destruction to so many different species to cause them to become extinct. I also want to fundraise because I believe that the more information and awareness that is spread, the more people there will be through community engagement and that means there will be an increase in people to help volunteer to help clear the lakes of debris. I would hope that by donating to the conservation and research centres/organisations, it would allow the process of conservation to progress and rapidly increase the number of axolotls that can be released into the wild. I want to make a difference and be able to help.
The charity I am donating to is called Moja (Movimiento de Jóvenes por el Agua, A.C.). They are an organisation that was founded in 2012 with the aims of promoting conservation, promoting protection of threatened species, and biodiversity and care of natural resources of the costal areas, wetlands, and forests. Moja is working on establishing a conservation centre in Xochimilco that will be located in San Gregorio Atlapulco and Ejidos de Xochimilco (the Natural Protected Area). They are passionate about conservation of axolotls and the wetlands surrounding Xochimilco.
