Team Sophie – Great Oaks College Staff Wellbeing Walk for The Brain Tumour Charity
On Wednesday 29th April, staff from Great Oaks College will be taking part in a sponsored walk from our Hounslow site to our Sunbury site — a journey of approximately five miles.
This isn’t just a walk for wellbeing. This year, our staff wellbeing day is dedicated to raising funds for a cause that is incredibly close to our hearts.
We are walking in support of Team Sophie and raising money for The Brain Tumour Charity.

Last year, our Deputy Principal, Rich Murr, and his wife Sophie received the devastating news that Sophie had been diagnosed with a cancerous brain tumour. Since then, they have shown remarkable strength, courage, and determination — not only facing this challenge together, but also working tirelessly to raise awareness and funds for vital research.
Sophie is a Speech and Language Therapist and has worked with the SEND community for over 10 years. She is now experiencing language difficulties herself as the tumour is on her language centre. The SEND community means so much to Sophie which makes this collaboration even more powerful.

As a college community, we want to stand beside them.
By taking on this walk, we hope to raise as much as possible to support life-changing research and to show our support for Sophie, Rich, and their family.
Every donation, no matter how small, will make a difference.
Thank you so much for your support 💛
