We are Mind in Kingston. We fight for mental health. For support. For respect. For you. We provide support to people with mental health issues in and around the borough of Kingston. Our services are user-led, recovery focused and based in the local community.

Story

We are tackling the National Three Peaks Challenge where we’ll climb the highest mountains of England (Scafell Pike), Scotland (Ben Nevis) and Wales (Snowdon) and trek over 42km. Not to mention our combined driving distance of 1,227 miles in our little camper. https://www.justgiving.com/team/ssall3peaks

In 2015 my close family friends, the Jakob's lost their gorgeous sister, daughter and friend, Emily Jakob. Ever since, those at EmFest have been doing all they can to create positives out of such an awful situation.

EmFest started as a small charity get together evening of music and comedy in 2016 ran by Beth Jakob and Nicky Kill. Since then it has grown to be a successful, enlightening and hilarious event which has raised over £50,000 since it began.

EmFest now continues to grow in Emilys’ name as we are coming up with more fun and charitable events, including this trek!, to help raise awareness for such a worthy cause.

EmFest donations are received by Mind in Kingston, a local charity (independent from national Mind) that supports people with mental health issues in and around Kingston upon Thames.

Their mission: to advance the needs, views and ambitions of people with mental health issues, to promote inclusion, to challenge stigma and discrimination, to develop quality services that reflect local need and to influence local policy.

Their vision: We won’t give up until everyone experiencing a mental health problem gets both support and respect.
