Sponsored Cycle for Sands · 9 October 2024

Sands is the charity speaking up about pregnancy and baby loss, saving babies’ lives and supporting bereaved families. Together, we are saving babies’ lives and improving maternity safety and bereavement care through research, training and campaigning.

Story

Isaac would like to use one of his hobbies, cycling, as a way to raise money for Sands and to bring awareness of the work they do to support families that have lost a baby, but what Isaac really wants to do is raise as much money as he can for Sands so that they can fund research that may help to save babies lives. Isaac was four when his brother William died and he remembers how sad it was for all the family at the time but he also misses William very much and wants to try to stop other families having to go through the loss of a much loved baby.

Isaac wanted to challenge himself to go on a daily bike ride for the whole of baby loss awareness week and will cycle 10 times around our estate (just under 4 miles a day). Normally he cycles for fun but this will push him as he will have to keep going until he completes the 10 laps. Jude will be going along on the bike rides for support, and James as well.

Sands, the stillbirth and neonatal death charity, operates across the UK: supporting anyone affected by the death of a baby; working in partnership with health professionals to ensure that bereaved parents and families receive the best possible care; and promoting improvements in practice and funding research that could help to reduce the loss of babies’ lives.

We depend on the amazing energies of our supporters to raise the vital funds that we need to deliver the wide range of services that we offer. #TeamSands
