Sophie Boyd is raising money for The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity

London Marathon 2026 · 26 April 2026 ·

Team Marsden are raising funds by taking on the iconic TCS London Marathon 2026 to make a difference to cancer patients everywhere.

Story

On the 26th April I will be running the London Marathon to raise money for The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity who have provided treatment for both my Mum and Dad.

In 2016, my Dad was diagnosed with advanced prostate cancer and became a patient at The Royal Marsden. Since then, he has undergone several rounds of hormone therapy, radiotherapy, chemotherapy and multiple other forms of treatment, with the last couple of months being particularly tough as he is currently undergoing a very intense treatment plan.

In 2018, my Mum was diagnosed with breast cancer and also received treatment from The Royal Marsden and is now thankfully in remission.

The last 10 years have been an emotional rollercoaster. I've seen first-hand how devastating cancer can be and the impact it has on everyone involved. The Marsden have always provided incredible care and I admire how resilient my Mum and Dad have been throughout.

Running the London Marathon is an opportunity to do something positive during an extremely difficult time. I want to celebrate my lovely Mum and Dad, challenge myself and raise money for a charity that we will always be grateful for, with the hope that in the future, fewer families will have to face cancer and for those that do, get the treatment they need.

Any support would be hugely appreciated.

Thank you,

Soph x
