Story

Over the moon to have been pick as one of the 12 Charity race jockeys to be taking part in this years BHS Charity Race at Wetherby Racecourse on Friday 3rd November (save the date 😜)

Still can’t believe it as it’s always been a dream of mine to be able to ride in a race and its going to come true this November 🏇

I have been around horses, riding on and off since I was 4yrs old. Spending all school holidays, weekends and evenings after school down the stables 🐴

In November 2014 I left Hartlepool for a 15 week course at The British Racing School in Newmarket 260 miles away from home to learn to handle, ride and be around racehorses, hoping to progress on to riding in races but late 2015 that dream came to an end! Long story short - I have arthritis in my knees!

Fast forward ⏩ a wedding, a couple of house moves and a child later I started running (2020) that progressed from 5k runs to ultra marathons (55 mile run in 14hours 46 mins)!! But again the knees! They weren’t getting any stronger so 3 knee injections later, lots of physiotherapy and strength training later they are coping with the pressure after building the muscles up.

I’ve always wanted to get back on a racehorse to see if I still have it in me to ride one so I decided to get in touch with Chris Grant after advertising for staff to see if I could help out riding out until he gets staff so I joined Chris and team Grant racing in September 2022, riding out few lots when I can on my rest days from my current job in a residential care home and I love being back in the saddle until I realised I could have an opportunity to ride in the charity race and help the BHS fundraise for The Second Chance Appeal to help neglected and mistreat horses.

Absolutely over the moon to have this opportunity as I love a challenge and fundraising to help a great cause!

I’d really appreciate it if you could show some support for this wonderful charity and help get me on reach my £2500 target and if you fancy a day at the races come and support me in watching 🏇

The hard work starts now 💪🏼🏋🏼🏃🏼‍♀️🏊‍♀️

Thank you for your support 😘

I am raising my money for the Second Chance Appeal.

Right now, hundreds of horses are being rescued from a life of mistreatment, cruelty, and neglect. The Second Chance project rehomes horses who have suffered an unhappy past, giving them a second chance to rest, recover and rediscover a better life at one of the BHS Approved Centres. The centres are home to BHS-qualified professionals who are equipped with the understanding, patience, skills, and knowledge needed to assist and rehabilitate those horses in desperate need. Without my help, yours and the brilliant riding schools, these horses face an uncertain future that they don’t deserve 🥹

So please please, if you can, support me in helping the BHS by sponsoring me to get me on that racecourse in November and to help give neglected horses a second chance,

I will forever be grateful 😘🥰❤️

Anything as small as £2 would be fantastic!
