My Story
In January 2023, my wife Nikki received a diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis (MS), a chronic condition that impacts the central nervous system. For more information, I encourage you to visit MS Society’s website, which offers incredible resources and support.
The diagnosis was a heavy blow to our family. We were left with so many unanswered questions about Nikki’s future and what kind of challenges this would bring. It motivated me to focus on my health and fitness, ensuring that I stay as fit as possible so I can be there for Nikki and our family for as long as possible.
As an avid outdoor enthusiast, I’ve always loved adventure—hiking across much of the American South and Midwest. So, I decided to blend my passion for the outdoors with raising funds for a charity that has been a lifeline to us, offering free resources and support every step of the way.
Introducing Source2Sea
That’s how Source2Sea was born. Over the next five years, I will take on a series of five solo adventure challenges that follow the journey of rivers from their source to the sea. Each challenge will combine hiking, cycling, and kayaking, growing longer and more demanding over time.
The Challenges:
Year 1 (2025) : River Severn - 368km
Year 2 (2026): River Rhone - 825km
Year 3 (2027): River Tagus - approx 1100km
Year 4 (2028): River Rhine - approx 1300km
Year 5 (2029): TBC
River Seven Challenge
The first challenge, the River Severn, will take place on 21st September 2025, right here in the UK. I’ll embark on a 368km (228 miles) journey over seven days, starting from the source in the Cambrian Mountains of Wales and ending at Portishead, near Bristol on the estuary.
I’m doing this not only to honour Nikki but also to raise money for the MS Society, helping to continue their vital work supporting families like ours. Your support will make a huge difference in this journey!
