We are the world’s largest charity dedicated to saving lives through research. Our vision is to bring forward the day when all cancers are cured. Cancer Research UK is a registered charity in England and Wales (1089464), Scotland (SC041666), the Isle of Man (1103) and Jersey (247).

Story

From 19th August to 2nd September 2026, 10-year-old Ellis Kent and his father, Matt Kent, will walk the entire length of the Thames Path — 185 miles from the source of the river in Gloucestershire to the sea at the Thames Barrier.

If Ellis completes the walk, he will become the youngest known person ever to finish the Thames Path end-to-end in a single continuous challenge — a world-record-level achievement for a child.

Ellis is undertaking this challenge in memory of his grandmother, who died three years ago from pancreatic cancer, and to raise £50,000 for Cancer Research UK.
