Story
Bfriend is a small independent charity based in South Ayrshire, and since 1996 has been providing a befriending service for young people with social or emotional difficulties living within South Ayrshire.
A little about the Project: Our young people are referred mainly by Social Work and Education and often have very limited adult support at home with few opportunities for social engagement or friendships. Many live with social, emotional, and behavioural support needs and face real challenges in day-to-day life.
The main aim of befriending is to reduce the social isolation of the young people, increase their confidence and self-esteem, and to ensure they are included and feel valued. Young people are matched with an adult befriender with whom they will meet with every two weeks for a few of hours. Together they will choose activities such as going to the cinema, café, the beach, or local activity centres. They may also choose to attend Project group outings together. Bfriend aims to ensure every young person feels included and involved in the activities they are participating in. We try to create fond memories, help, encourage and support young people during their time with us.
The charity can only operate through funding. We have been very kindly donated a voucher for a four-ball at The Portland Course at Royal Troon. The value for the Portland is currently £500.00. Visiting golfers will have full access to the Royal Troon Clubhouse and practice facilities. Voucher valid until October 2025.

Established in 1878, Royal Troon, which was handed royal patronage in 1978, has established itself among the world's most famous clubs, but while the Old Course is one of the finest links courses in the world, it's slightly shorter neighbour, Troon Portland, is also worth a look.
Unfairly overshadowed, Portland is a genuine links course that opened in 1885 and is very similar in style to the Old, although it's a little shorter and more forgiving.
It was redesigned in 1921 to ensure it lives up to the high standards at Royal Troon and it certainly does that, boasting its own cosy clubhouse and immaculate round of golf.
Located further inland, the Portland Course is quite frankly one of Scotland's more underrated courses, from its perfect conditioning to compelling holes. A must-play in any trip to this part of the country.
