Story
We are Amy Redman, Lucy Newport and Libby Watts – the 2020/ 2021 SPAB (Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings) Scholars. In 2020, we embarked on an incredible journey walking through the Lake District, sketching a number of churches and raising funds for the Dance Scholarship Trust.
Now, we’re returning to some of those same wonderful churches – not just to visit, but to give back. This time, we’ll be rolling up our sleeves and carrying out essential hands-on maintenance to help safeguard these buildings for future generations.
Our work will include:
Cleaning out gutters and rainwater goods
Refixing missing slates and tiles
Hoovering dust and debris inside
Clearing rubbish from churchyards
Removing vegetation from low-level walls and pathways
These simple but vital tasks can make all the difference in preventing long-term damage and costly repairs.
We’re proud to be tying our efforts into SPAB’s annual Maintenance Week.
Please support us if you can – whether by donating, sharing our page, or spreading the word about the importance of maintenance for our built heritage. Every contribution helps ensure these wonderful churches continue to be cherished spaces for generations to come.
