Story
Our school building, first constructed in 1859, has stood at the heart of our community for generations. As a Grade II listed building made from beautiful sandstone, with its original tiled roof, it carries a proud history that so many children have been part of over the years.
Sadly, time and weather have taken their toll, and the roof now needs urgent repair to protect the classrooms and preserve this historic building for future pupils. Without these repairs, the space where our children learn, grow, and create memories could be at risk.
As a church school, we have applied to the Rochester Diocese for School Condition Allocation (SCA) Capital Premises Funding for Voluntary Aided schools, and we are delighted that our project has been included on the list for funding in 2026–2027. The available funding for the first stage of repairing the roof is projected to be £165,000, and as part of the funding agreement the school community must contribute 10% of this amount (£16,500).
Our wonderful PTA has kindly undertaken to help lead the fundraising effort, but we cannot do it alone. With the support of parents, families, and friends through our JustGiving appeal, community fundraising and sponsorship of the PTA Mini Marathon, we hope to reach this target and play our part in preserving our much-loved school building.
Every contribution—no matter how small—will help safeguard this much-loved school so that future generations of children can continue to learn beneath the same historic roof that has sheltered young minds for more than 160 years.
