Story
I damaged my back years ago falling backwards from a roof, as well as 2 dislocated fingers at the knuckle I had fractured two vertebra in my neck and suffered several herniated disc's in my lower back.
Since then I have had to have 2 lots of spinal surgery, including a spinal fusion in my 30's. Although I have done my best to stay active to keep my spine as nimble as possible over the last 5 years things have got worse. I now have stenosis of the spine and there are spurs that are growing off of my vertebra and hitting nerves with a narrowing of the spinal cord channel. This has resulted in my legs giving way constantly so I have to use crutches to walk.
My surgeon has said that they are unwilling to carry out any further procedures on my spine due to my heart condition. (I was born with a hole in my heart, had open heart surgery aged 7 & have lead a very active life since then.Ive always lived life to the max so was into several extreme sports so have a huge love for nature & being outside from DH Mountain biking, Horse Riding in my early years to just walking through the forest with our dog Storm. However since 2023 Ive not been able to get outside in nature as using the crutches is hard work, in 2018 I had a heart attack resulting in having stents fitted & have had a couple more since heart. resulting in heart failure and unstable angina.
My next step is getting into a wheelchair so I can do simple things like go food shopping & getting back into the Forest as thats my special place. Due to the nature of my injury and the pain I need a specialist wheelchair. That is where I need your help. This wheelchair will enable me to get out and about with my daughter and be able go for walks with her & Storm back in nature then be able to regain my quality of life.
I know that times are tough for all of us at the moment, I've raised some of the money myself but still a ways off. So Id be filled with gratitude for any donations large or small & I am eternally grateful . I am also in the process of applying for grants to add to the fund so Im not just expecting others to raise the funds for me.
