Story
Me and my friends will be running the Bath Half Marathon to raise money and awareness for Stoke Mandeville spinal research to help patients with spinal cord injuries (SCI). These injuries are often unexpected and change the course of someone's life in an instant.
Recently my boyfriend Alfie has gone from playing first team Rugby at Millfield to currently not being able to feel below his chest due to an accident. His journey to recovery has only just begun and there is a long road ahead of him, but Stoke Mandeville has been, and continues to be, an incredible source of support.
Every donation will go towards the goal of finding new treatments to ensure the best outcome for patients with a SCI, helping them to regain as much strength and movement as possible. Stoke Mandeville hospital is world renowned for rehabilitating patients with SCI, their current research ranges from enhancing the mental health of their patients to using Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation to uncover potential areas for recovery after an SCI.
I've seen the amazing things Stoke Mandeville are doing and I couldn't think of a better charity to support, as they have supported thousands of others through the toughest, most unexpected challenges of their lives.
Any donations are greatly appreciated. Thank you for reading
