Story
Greetings Friends, Family, Supporters, and anyone who's ever said, "Hey, that person is funny… and a little bit crazy."
I am about to embark on an epic adventure, a journey so monumental it would make Frodo's jaunt to Mordor seem like a hop across the Shire. I am trading my comfy sofa (goodbye dear friend), my 9-5 routine, and my extensive collection of humorous cat videos, for a 130 miles bicycle ride from London to Bristol.
Before you ask, no, I haven't lost a bet nor am I having a midlife crisis - trust me, I'd rather be scaling the Eiffel Tower in Lederhosen than be strapping myself onto a bike for that distance. But I'm not doing this for the inevitable sore buttocks. I'm doing this for FoodCycle.
FoodCycle, as you may know, is an extraordinary national charity with a simple, yet profound mission. They believe in a world where food waste and food poverty do not co-exist - a sentiment I'm sure we can all agree with. Their weekly three-course meals, served in 41 locations nationwide, cater to 1,500 guests who are facing food poverty. They do more than just feed people, they create community spaces where people can sit, laugh, eat together, and forget about their worries for a while.
Now, you might be wondering, why a bike ride? Well, our generous sponsor, Just Eat Takeaway, thought it would be a hoot to see me sweat, pant, and most probably curse every hill on the route. And well, let's just say that the thought of raising money to help FoodCycle serve their heartwarming meals made me agree with them - albeit in a moment of madness.
So, as I bid adieu to my beloved chaise longue, my challenge to you is this: can we pedal together (metaphorically for you, of course) to make a difference? I promise, every donation, however big or small, will go directly to FoodCycle and in return, I'll provide regular updates filled with comedic commentary, photos of me in various states of exhaustion, and some breathtaking views from my journey.
What do you say? Will you join me in turning my thigh burn into warm meals for those in need? Donate now, and together, we can turn this comedy of errors into a triumphant tale of helping others.
