Story

About us

Spire Healthcare's LGBTQ+ Network has voted to raise money for Galop, the UK’s LGBT+ anti-abuse charity, through a variety of fundraising events.

Our charity drive will take place 12- 18 February 2024, where colleagues across the business will host a variety of activities, including sponsored walks, knitting challenges, bake offs, gaming live streams, and much more to raise vital funds for Galop.

About Galop

Galop works directly with thousands of LGBT+ people who have experienced abuse and violence every year. We specialise in supporting victims and survivors of domestic abuse, sexual violence, hate crime, honour-based abuse, forced marriage, conversion therapies, and other forms of interpersonal abuse. They are a service run by LGBT+ people, for LGBT+ people, and the needs of the community are at the centre of what they do.

What your donations can help achieve:

• £1,000 could pay for a weeks’ worth of emergency hotel accommodation for LGBT+ victims fleeing abuse

• £500 could provide everything that a victim fleeing abuse and violence would need to escape and be set up in safe accommodation with food and household essentials

• £200 could ensure that a survivor of abuse has someone to support them in person at court

• £150 could get a young LGBT+ person fleeing abuse and violence off the streets for a night

• £75 could provide a counselling session for an LGBT+ survivor of abuse and violence

• £50 could buy clothing for an LGBT+ person who has to flee with nothing

• £25 could go towards emotional support for an LGBT+ person experiencing abuse and violence

• £15 could provide transport for an LGBT+ person fleeing abuse and violence

• £10 could go towards door chains or window locks for an LGBT+ person facing abuse and violence at their home
