Introducing Andy! A nine-year-old large crossbreed boy with a heart of gold.

Hi everyone, I'm Andy and I’ve been at the kennels for some time now, and while this place feels like home, I’m always open to making new friends and giving lots of love in return.

You might know me as the King of the Kennels - I’ve been here since I was less than a year old, which is over nine years now! I even get to star in the members’ newsletter sometimes. I rule this place alongside my beautiful girlfriend Twiggy - we’re quite the power couple around here.

I do have some trust issues because of something scary that happened before I came here, so when I meet new people, I wear my muzzle to keep everyone safe while I decide if you’re friend or foe. But once I know you, I’m the most loving, gentle, and affectionate boy you could ever meet! I’ve actually met over 100 people during my time here, and I remember every single one who’s ever taken the time to get to know me, even if I haven’t seen them for months.

I have a lovely little gang of dedicated walkers who really understand me. They know that sometimes I might get a bit worried during our walks, but they’re always patient with me. Twiggy usually joins us too - we’re local celebrities! I should warn you, though - if I wake up and decide “nope, not today,” then there’s absolutely no moving me. I’m quite good at being an immovable object when I want to be!

Now, here’s where it gets interesting - even though I’ve lived here most of my life and I’m really happy, the team at RATS thinks I might actually do well in the right home. Can you imagine? Me, in my very own house! I’d need somewhere quiet and peaceful, ideally in the countryside, with a patient family who understands that trust takes time.

Here’s what my perfect home would need:

- I’d always wear my muzzle on walks - it’s kind of my signature look now.

- Visitors would need proper introductions - friends, family, even the postman.

- No children, other dogs, cats, or small mammals, please.

- Lots of patience - trust isn’t built overnight.

Whether I find my forever home or stay here at RATS, I know I’m loved and cared for. This place is my kingdom, my sanctuary, and Twiggy is my queen.
