A hike up Snowdon to raise money for Sporting Memories · 9 August 2023

We help older people to reminiscence, replay and reconnect through the power of sport and physical activity. We support a wide range of people aged 50+, including those living with dementia, depression or facing isolation and loneliness to improve their mental and physical wellbeing

Story

On August 9, we're walking up (and down) Snowdon as a group to raise money for Sporting Memories. The charity supports people aged 50 and over, including those living with dementia, living with depression or facing isolation and loneliness, to improve their mental and physical wellbeing.

30 members of the Sportsbreaks.com team are taking on the hike as we’d like to raise awareness and funds for Sporting Memories and the important work they do in communities across England, Wales and Scotland.

Head of Sportsbreaks.com Amanda Brandariz said: "It's a subject very close to my heart and I know lots of people throughout the team have been impacted by dementia in some way throughout their lives.

“It's more prevalent than many realise and even though lots of people are going through it with friends or relatives, it's not spoken about anywhere near enough.

"We joined Sporting Memories and their club members for a tour of St James' Park in May and it was the most rewarding event. Seeing how sport can help rekindle those living with dementia with their love of the game is a joy to witness.

"We'd love to raise some funds for Sporting Memories to help them continue their crucial work in the community."
