Story
As my birthday approaches, I have been reflecting on the past four decades of my life and I am filled with so much gratitude. I was lucky enough to have had the most wonderful parents who always supported me. One of the greatest gifts they ever gave me, was the opportunity to attend Stagedoor Manor for nine incredible summers. As a kid who was obsessed with music, broadway, and just about anything other than sports, my theater camp provided me with an incredible outlet to be my true self. Being given the opportunity to go to camp and surround myself with people who shared my passion helped build my confidence. And, of course, everyone knows how much my camp friends mean to me; 30+ years later they are still the people who lift me up and bring me so much joy!
Now, why am I sharing all of this with you? To start, if you're receiving this email, it means you must know me well enough to know that I am a serial storyteller. Secondly, I want to introduce you all to an amazing organization called SCOPE. SCOPE raises funds for children from underserved communities to experience the magic of camp.
When talking about my 40th birthday, I have told everyone, I do not want anyone to get me a gift. But for those who keep saying you want to do something, instead of gifting me with something, I would be honored if we could come together as a community and give the gift of camp to children in need.
