Story

Hi everyone, the Raft Race is back! For one day only each year rafts race along the Thames raising money for WaterAid, Thames Water's long-standing charity partner.

Please support your SRO Raft Race Team (Mohit, Simon, Stuart, Myles, Emily, Vlada & Mark) by donating to our Just Giving page and cheering us on at Reading Rowing Club (Thames Promenade Richfield Avenue, Reading RG1 8BD) on Thursday 25th July.

This year's theme is ‘Rafting for Gold' in celebration of the Summer Olympic Games in Paris. Of course we will all be undertaking intensive training programmes ahead of the race to win the top prize of fastest raft, but just in case there is a prize for the best dressed raft so all ideas are welcome!

Last year the Raft Race raised a record-breaking £64,500 for WaterAid, so let’s try and make this one even better! Please donate what you can and come support us in July.

WaterAid

WaterAid is an international not-for-profit, determined to make clean water, decent toilets and good hygiene normal for everyone, everywhere within a generation.

Since 1981, WaterAid has directly reached 28 million people with clean water; 28 million with decent toilets; and 26 million with good hygiene. Only by tackling these three essentials in ways that last can people change their lives for good.

All funds raised will go towards WaterAid's work to bring clean water, decent toilets and good hygiene to communities in Madagascar, in partnership with Thames Water.

We are supporting WaterAid because clean water, decent toilets and good hygiene are essential human rights and must be a normal part of everyone's daily lives. With your help, we can change normal for good - together.

The Strategic Resource Options (SRO) Major Projects

The proposed SROs form part of the company’s draft Water Resource Management Plan, which includes a potential new reservoir in Oxfordshire and a new river abstraction point on the River Thames supported by water recycling.
