Trekking Kilimanjaro for a Cause That Matters

Shree Swaminarayan Mandir Oldham is raising money for Dr Kershaw's Hospice

Mount Kilimanjaro Climb · 13 September 2026

Dr Kershaw's Hospice provides free, specialist, end-of-life and palliative care (an area of healthcare that focuses on relieving and preventing the suffering of patients) for adults with life-limiting illnesses in Oldham and its surrounding areas in a peaceful and homely environment.

Story

Shree Swaminarayan Mandir Oldham is proud to be organising a once-in-a-lifetime trek to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro in celebration of our temple’s 50th anniversary. This milestone is not only a time for reflection and gratitude, but also an opportunity to give back to the wider community.

As part of our 50th anniversary celebrations, we have chosen to partner with Dr Kershaw’s Hospice as our official charity for the next two years. This trek is dedicated to raising vital funds for Dr Kershaw’s, a remarkable local hospice that provides outstanding end-of-life care and dementia support to individuals and families across the North West.

We have chosen Dr Kershaw’s not only because of the incredible work they do, but also because we recognise that the South Asian community often underutilises hospice services. Through this partnership, our aim goes beyond fundraising. We want to raise awareness within our community about the compassionate care hospices provide and to highlight that these services are available to everyone, regardless of background, culture, or faith.

Taking on this incredible challenge are members of our community:

Thank you for your generosity and support. 🙏
