Last week, St Aidan's Primary School had to close early and ask parents to collect their children because classrooms had become too hot to safely teach in. Lessons were cut short, parents had to rearrange their day at a moment's notice, and our teachers were left managing a difficult situation with no real solution available to them.

This isn't a one-off. As summers get hotter and heatwaves more frequent, our pupils and staff are spending more time each year trying to learn and teach in conditions that simply aren't safe or sustainable. Without action, school closures like this one are likely to keep happening.

We're raising funds to install air conditioning in all 7 classrooms at St Aidan's, at a cost of approximately £5,500 per classroom — a total of £38,500. This would mean:

* No more lost learning time due to heat-related closures

* A safer environment for children with asthma, allergies, or other heat-sensitive conditions

* Teachers able to focus on teaching, not managing heat exhaustion and discomfort

* A school that's properly prepared for the climate we now live in, not the one we used to have

Every donation helps, and we don't need to reach the full amount all at once; partial funding lets us prioritise the classrooms most affected by the heat.
