Motor Neurone Disease Charity Day · 23 May 2023

Motor Neurone Disease moves fast. It takes away time, it takes away independence and it has no cure. Every day we support people affected by MND. We fund ground-breaking research. We campaign for better care. We’re here for everyone who needs us. Because with MND, every day matters.

Story

This year, the Junior School will be holding an all-day fundraising event in May. Inspired by Kevin Sinfield, the current England Rugby Union defence coach, our chosen charity is the Motor Neurone Disease association (MND). Many of you will know that Kevin Sinfield has taken up the challenge to raise money for MND, after his friend and fellow Rugby League player Rob Burrow was diagnosed with MND in 2019. His fundraising has been through running challenges, and he has used the theme of the number 7, which was the number that Rob wore on his Leeds Rhinos shirt.

The Junior School pupils and willing teachers are going to attempt to run for 7 hours throughout the day. Year groups or classes will be given an allocated time to run, with the duration ranging from 10 minutes for Reception, to 40 minutes for years 5 and 6. Mr Sanford has pledged to run for the whole 7 hours, and we wish him luck with that!
