Joey's go from the Pike to the Peak!

For over 100 years, young people have collected their loose change during the season of Lent to raise funds for local children in families less fortunate than their own. Big dreams come from small change.

Story

During Lent as a school community we are pledging to spend Lent thinking about how we can support others both through the work of Caritas (providing a roof over heads locally) and internationally through the work of CAFOD. We are asking all members of the community to walk/run/cycle/wheel chair/ride more this Lent. Not only is physical exercise known to help positive mental health, if we choose to walk/cycle instead of get a lift whenever we can, we are also doing a little bit to reduce pollution. We have all seen the impact of climate change in local floods due to excessive rain and also in excessive heat causing fires in some parts of the world. CAFOD are supporting victims in these areas and Caritas are supporting those locally. We will be recording the miles we cover as a community and also asking for sponsorship. Each student will be given a traditional sponsor form, but please feel free to sponsor online too. Wouldn’t it be brilliant if in our 60th Anniversary year we were able to raise more money for those in need than we have ever done before!

Each year, Caritas supports thousands of local people across Greater Manchester and Lancashire from its diverse services and projects, including those experiencing homelessness, poverty, isolation and discrimination.
