Story
St Mary’s Eco Church is a new venture in collaboration with Lambeth Palace and the Church of England and committed to engaging with people across a wide range of faiths and none on a broad range of issues involving the environment.
Help us keep our activities growing!
Our monthly Eco Chamber (an antidote to echo chambers) is a place where people can gather to hear talks and take part in debates on the key climate issues of our time. Previous Eco Chamber evenings have featured Baroness Jenny Jones, Client Earth, Lord Redesdale, Vegan Masterchef, Alexis Gauthier, and Rupert Read among others. The event will be chaired by Tom Shakespeare, from Radio 4’s Point of View. Tickets are free and open to anyone to attend, available on Eventbrite.
Seedlings is our group for Under 5s and their parents/carers in Archbishop's Park. With songs and activities that follow the seasons, there is a little something new every week. Spring brings birds nesting, spring bulbs, trees budding, and frogspawn. In summer we explore bees, caterpillars, butterflies, clouds, and shade. In autumn we notice leaves, squirrels, worms, woodlice and of course the rain. In winter we celebrate snow, moon, owls, bats, spiders, and more.
Eco Spotlight is our Sunday afternoon pop-up Environmental Education Centre in Archbishop’s Park. Each week we call attention to a different aspect of the park's eco system and celebrate it. Spotlights follow the seasons and have included squirrels, parakeets, woodlice, lichen, the moon, clouds and foxes.
St Mary's Eco Church is part of North Lambeth Parish along with our sister church, St Anselm's Kennington. All funds from this fundraiser will go into an account set aside exclusively for St Mary's Eco Church and its environmental work.
We greatly appreciate any and everything that you can contribute.
