Story

7th-8th October Stacey will be running/walking Penwith to support The Hygiene Bank Penwith.

This year Stacey's fundraiser is on a whole new level!

Always up for a challenge, on the weekend of 7th-8th October 2023, Stacey Nicholas has decided to cover the perimeter of Penwith (as best as possible), on foot, within 24 hours.

The route is roughly 50miles of coast path and off road trails, with a total elevation of around 4,500ft and covering some of the toughest coast path sections in the South West. It isn't set to be an easy task, but after being inspired watching a local Ultra running race, she believes it has to be achievable...right??

She has given her event the generous time allowance of 24hours to start/finish mainly to accommodate for our unpredictable Cornish weather, although her idea is to complete the route in the best possible time.

The details of the course will remain the same. Starting at Lands End she will be attempting a circular route, heading to St Ives, taking the St Michaels way across to Marazion and then back along the coast path, past The Minack Theatre and back to Lands End.

"WHY is she doing this?" I hear you ask.

Stacey wishes to raise money for The Hygiene Bank Penwith to purchase much needed hygiene and cleaning products, to distribute free of charge to the below charities, during these increasingly difficult financial times. The aim is to buy and make up family hygiene packs that charity projects can then hand out locally, directly to those in need, helping to relieve a small amount of strain currently on their services.

Please look to support her with any donation you are able to afford and help to make what is most likely going to be; a gruelling, wet and windy 50mile journey, worth every step!

Like to know a bit about The Hygiene Bank?

The Hygiene Bank has grown from a belief that basic hygiene is not a privilege. It’s not right that feeling clean should be a luxury for anyone in our society, yet many of us are living in poverty.

Grounded in the community, our local projects work with a range of community partners to identify and respond to the direct needs of those of us experiencing hygiene poverty and struggling to keep clean, through collecting and distributing donated products.

As of the release of a resent report our network of 162 Local Projects has provided over 1,059,000kg of the products we all rely on every day to over 2,715 Community Partners – including schools, foodbanks, family support services, refuges and other charities and organisations that support people with little or no access to hygiene essentials.

Everyone deserves to feel clean, yet millions of people in the UK today are going without the hygiene basics - such as shower gel, toothpaste and deodorant - that so many of us take for granted. With your support, we will reach more of those who are disproportionately affected by hygiene poverty.
