Story
I'm running the 2026 BMW Berlin Marathon for Alzheimer's Research UK!
My beloved grandmother, one of my most favorite people in the world, died from complications of Alzheimer’s on October 12, 2008. It was excruciating and heartbreaking to watch her decline over the course of a few years. It was as if I lost her twice, the first time when she no longer remembered me and our beautiful memories and then when she passed away.
Alzheimer’s is a hideous disease that ultimately affects the entire friends/family support system. I know firsthand the incredible heartbreak of someone you not remembering you.
The course of Alzheimer’s is very similar to a marathon. There will be good days (or good miles) and there will be very challenging days (miles) but it is not a sprint. It’s a long daunting road for the person affected and their loved ones never knowing what the next day (mile) will bring. Predictability is not a characteristic of this terrible disease.
Alzheimer’s Research UK is the UK’s leading dementia research charity. I am so very proud to support this phenomenal organization.
We’re striving for a cure, by revolutionizing the way we treat, diagnose and prevent dementia.
With your support, we will keep going until every person is free from the heartbreak of dementia.
Thank you for supporting me as I run 26.2 miles through the beautiful and historic streets of Berlin for a cure!
I pray you and your loved ones are never affected by Alzheimer’s, but I will run every stride dedicated to finding a cure for all.
Vielen Dank für Ihre Unterstützung!
