Story
On the 11th June, three of us will be running the Potters 'Arf (13.1 miles) as a relay team to fundraise for Staffordshire Sight Loss Association.
The team will be made up of: Lisa Trickett (running section one; 3.3 miles), Suzanne Roberts (running section two; 3.4 miles), and Kath Brookes (running sections three and four, totaling: 6.4 miles).
We are excited to get involved with this fantastic local event, and raise money for Staffordshire Sight Loss Association, a charity set up by Suzanne in 2017.
At present, SSLA is the only North Staffordshire charity to specifically support people affected by sight loss. There are approximately 16,020 people in North Staffordshire affected by a sight loss condition, a figure which is expected to rise to 19,070 by 2030.
As a small charity, fundraising is critical to the ongoing operation of our services. We offer a number of support services, which include: a community hub and resource centre (where individuals with sight loss can access and try out life-changing equipment to support independence), social groups, group activities, events, technology support, Living Well with Sight Loss courses and independence/welfare support. All of these services make a huge difference to individuals with sight loss living in Stoke-on-Trent, Newcastle under Lyme and the Moorlands.
We would be very grateful for any donations. It makes such a difference to us as a small charity, and to the individuals who use our services.
If anyone would like to come down to cheer on the team, we will see you there!
