Why we’re running the Great North Run 🏃♂️💛
Cancer has hit close to home for both Tom and me, and nothing woke us up quicker than realising how fragile life can be. That’s why we’re donning our running shoes for the Dragonfly Cancer Trust this September.
Dragonfly is a UK-wide charity supporting young people (aged 0–25) living with terminal cancer, along with their families. They create precious moments when they’re needed most, through Dragonfly Dreams, cash gifts (up to £500), creative and sibling activity boxes, keepsakes like hand-casting kits or engraved glass hearts, and even mini family getaways to just be together outside the hospital.
They’re not just treating illness, they’re investing in emotional experiences, bringing light, love, and lasting memories when families face unimaginable challenges. Each year, around 530 young people with terminal cancer are supported by Dragonfly, and they strive to ensure every eligible family across the UK knows how to reach them.
So here we are, soon to be running 13.1 miles AGAIN, still smiling (mostly), and hoping to raise enough to fund one more memory box, one more keepsake, one more Dragonfly dream.
With every step, we want to remind these young people and their families: you’re seen, you’re loved, and your moments matter.
Thank you for supporting us, and for supporting Dragonfly. Together, we run for more than finish lines; we run for hope, humanity, and memory. 💫
