Stan's Kilimanjaro climb for Headway Thames Valley

Stanley Hetherington is raising money for Headway Thames Valley

Climbing Kilimanjaro for the 3rd time · 28 January 2026

Headway Thames Valley provides advice, support & rehabilitation to adults living with acquired brain injury and their families and carers. The charity aims to improve lives wherever it can by encouraging and enabling independence, hobbies, return to work, social integration, adjustment & acceptance.

Story

Headway Thames Valley is a charity based in Henley-on-Thames helping people to live life after brain injury in Berkshire and South Oxfordshire. The help they gave my daughter following her fall was outstanding, and Jo and I will always owe them a huge debt.

When I turned 65 I cycled Lands End to John O'Groats for them and as I rapidly approach my 72nd birthday I thought I should be doing something for them again. So when Aaron Cilia said he fancied doing a high altitude trek I jumped at the chance to climb Kili again. This will be my 3rd time so hopefully I should know the way by now.

Hopefully young Aaron will not leave the old man behind when the going gets tough.

If you could support me by donating that would be fantastic.

Thank you
