Story
St Barnabas is an incredible organisation that helps anyone with end of life care and support. It has operated for over 40 years and has helped 100,000 people receive end of life care and support in Lincolnshire.
Our story:
Our experience with St Barnabas happened near the end of 2023 with my Nan (Jean Pearson). To give context my Nan was someone that me and my family always loved and looked up too. If I was to describe my Nan in a short sentence I would say “she was a kind, light-hearted and caring person that never gave up and loved to travel the world”.
However, by the end of 2023 while going on one of her great holidays that she loved she unfortunately had a major stoke. After a few days of being in hospital and trying to see if anything could be done, it turned out that it would be the end of her life after 78 years of living.
However, during this period of time when my nan needed a place to be looked after a great charity, St Barnabas, stepped into our family’s life who looked after her for 2 weeks in the Lincoln hospice. During this time, she was seen by all members of her family and managed to say their goodbyes in a dignified way in the last few weeks of her life.
