Ste is running the Manchester Marathon on the 14th April in memory of his incredible Dad, Mike Hulse, who we have sadly lost following his brave battle with Myeloma. This is Ste's first marathon and training hasn’t been easy with helping to care for Mike over the last few weeks – but he’ll be sure to give it his all over each of the 26.2 miles!
Mike was looked after by the incredible team at the Countess of Chester, particularly over the past six months during which he was admitted onto the Intensive Care Unit. The dedicated doctors and nurses on ICU helped give Mike the strength he needed to fight just a little longer, giving us extra precious time with him that we all felt beyond lucky to have - that's why Ste's raising money to support the ICU's Blue Skies Balcony Appeal.
The new appeal is to build a garden balcony on the ICU so that the poorly patients can benefit from the outdoors in a safe and infection-controlled environment. All patients, their visitors and staff are set to benefit from this innovative improvement that will make it easier and safer to move patients outside with no loss of space to the existing unit which opened in 2014.
Mike loved the outdoors and going on holiday (for the sun, mainly!), and we're sure he would be happy to know we're supporting this appeal. Thank you for any donation you’re able to make.
