Story
A little over a year ago, a close friend of mine was rushed to hospital with chest pain and initially told he was having a heart attack. He was just 25. The diagnosis was later changed to myocarditis — an inflammation of the heart muscle — and the situation was serious enough that he spent three days in intensive care, including New Year’s Eve. He eventually made a full recovery, but the experience showed me how sudden, frightening, and life‑altering myocarditis can be — not just physically, but mentally too. I’m fundraising for a UK charity dedicated to myocarditis so more people can get the research, awareness, and support they need at the moments it matters most. If you’re able to donate or share this page, thank you — you’ll be helping turn a frightening experience like his into better outcomes for others. - Stefan
🫀What We're doing:
Together with my good friend and colleague Emil, who experienced myocarditis last year, I’m taking part in the NatWest Baton Relay. On the 5th June, we’ll be tackling a white‑water rafting challenge together.
🫀Why it matters:
We're raising money for Myocarditis UK, the only UK charity dedicated to this condition. They fund vital research, provide patient support, and work to ensure myocarditis is identified and treated early, before it becomes critical. Without greater awareness and funding, too many people — particularly young, otherwise healthy individuals — are caught off guard by a condition they've never heard of.
Myocarditis kills one young person suddenly every week in the UK.
🫀How you can help:
NatWest will match every donation, meaning your contribution goes twice as far. Whatever you can give — large or small — makes a genuine difference.
🫀Make your donation go 25% further (at no cost to you!)
If you are a UK taxpayer, please remember to tick the Gift Aid box when you donate. This allows the government to add an extra 25% to your contribution at no extra cost to you.
