Story
WE'RE DOING IT AGAIN! Bay Area Girls Rock Camp has empowered queer Bay Area youth through radical music education for 16+ years. This year's Spring Fundraiser is themed THE KIDS ARE ALRIGHT, and that's where our team name comes from, the lyrics to the song by The Who:
"Bells chime, I know I gotta get away/ And I know if I don't, I'll go out of my mind/ Better leave her behind with the kids, they're alright."
Great song, but I think we can all agree that that kind of thinking is pretty retrogressive β yes, the kids are alright if you leave 'em alone with her, but where the hell do you think you're going, mister? When do we get to rock and run free?
HOW ABOUT NOW?
BAGRC's camp and other educational programs are open to self-identified girls, trans, and gender expansive youth ages 8-18. They are dedicated to creating a space for creativity and expression for all gender identities.
Everyone deserves the freedom of making music and participating in creative spaces. Art makes a difference, even in a world on fire.
Help us reach our $25K goal by May 31st β because the kids are all right when they have us.
