Story
Hi there,
On the 21st of April 2024 I will run the London marathon. My father in law Alan, passed away last year due to prostate cancer and I decided to raise some money in his memory. All the money will go to the charity Macmillan Cancer Support as they have been amazing with Alan and our family.
The Macmillan nurse, Caroline, went above and beyond supporting Alan until his last day and helped the family spending time with us, explaining pro and cons of choices, reporting issues to medical staff, looking for hospices for Alan closer to his home etc. . They are doing an amazing job but they need your help to keep help others.
I will be also doing other races leading to the marathon day. These are the ones I picked so far:
- Weekly parkruns; I am attempting the Alphabet Challenge - it consist in running a parkrun locations starting with each letter of the English alphabet (except X). I am currently at 15 out of 25!
- 01.10.23 Cardiff Half Marathon: done 1:39:03
- 29.10.23 Stroud Half Marathon: done in 1:37:10
- 17.03.24 Bath Half Marathon: done in 1:38:48
- 23.03.24 Fission 20 miler: done in 2:36:10
- London Marathon: Bib 52041 start 10.15 blue wave.
After an ankle operation, it will not be easy running a marathon and the training required for it will be even worse but I fancy the challenge and I will do my best to finish it. If you are around any of the races, cheering will be much appreciated 😊.
Please donate whatever you can; any little helps! We miss Alan and I am proud to do this in his memory.
Thank you so much!
Stefano
