Story
STEKA is an inspirational grassroots Malawian charity based in Nyambadwe in Malawi. It is run by Godknows and Helen Maseko. STEKA is home to more than 100 young people, some of whom have experienced deep trauma and abuse, and some who have only avoided it by becoming part of the home. What makes STEKA so special is the way Helen and Godknows run it as a family. They live the role of loving parents and the children are brought up to value their rights and themselves.
The situation now at STEKA is very tense. This year Malawi has gone through a significant drought which has affected farmers and the harvest and so there is now a shortage of basic foods which has consequently resulted in the price of all food commodities increasing.
The total cost for Godknows to be able to afford these staple foods (rice, beans and maize) for everyone at STEKA for 12 months is £12,000.
Cost Breakdown-
Maize for 12 months - MK 9,000,000
Beans for 12 months - MK 5,199,996
Rice for 12 months - MK 4,400,000
Likuni Phala - MK 7,296,000
Total - MK 25,895,996 which equates to roughly £12,000
All money raised will go directly towards financing this so that he can continue to provide 3 meals a day to all in the STEKA family.
