#TeamWellChild are taking on the Great North Run to raise money to help fund WellChild Nurses, home improvement projects and Better at Home Training Suites.

Story

For those who know me well, you probably think I've lost my mind attempting this. I'm a 35 year old asthmatic who's decided to take up running. I'm swapping drinking 20 pints a week for running 20k a week, so yeah I agree, I've lost my mind.

Follow me on my journey and help me raise money for an incredible children's charity! I'll be running 4 days a week and training as hard as I can for this to make sure I'm in good shape for the event in September.

My pledged fundraising target was £280, but I feel the people in my.life can do better than that, so I've raised it to a massive £1000. If there's anything that's going to get me across that line it's the donations and support given to me by all you beautiful people!

I will be uploading progress videos through social media and I'm planning on doing special runs when I hit a couple of significant milestones in my £1000 target. So wish me luck, I'll definitely need it.

If you would like to know more about the incredible charity I'm raising money for, keep reading. The guys at WellChild are trying to change the lives of our countries little superheroes, all I'm trying to do is help. 💜🧡💜

WellChild Childrens Nurses provide essential care and practical support to children and young people requiring long-term or complex care. They play a crucial role in enabling children to leave hospital and be cared for at home, reducing the practical, emotional and financial impact for families.

WellChild is also committed to funding high quality, innovative projects designed to have a positive impact for seriously ill children both now and in the future. This includes WellChilds Helping Hands programme which continues to go from strength to strength, working with volunteers from companies and organisations across the country to tackle essential projects in the homes of children with serious illness. Those volunteers provide the manpower and enthusiasm for projects such as bedroom and garden makeovers.
