Ciarán Jones, born 3rd November 1986, came from Athdown, Manor Kilbride, Co Wicklow. He joined An Garda Síochána in September 2008 and served in Dundrum and Stepaside Garda Stations. Ciarán was a keen athlete and distinguished himself on the playing fields for Kilbride GAA Football Club and at inter county level for Wicklow Senior Footballers.

On the 24th October 2011, during severe weather conditions, Garda Ciarán Jones went to the assistance of endangered motorists near Ballysmuttan Bridge, Manor Kilbride, Co Wicklow a short distance from his family home. Garda Jones while endeavouring to warn motorists of the dangerous conditions lost his footing due to the tremendous power of the flooding waters and was swept into the river. Despite the efforts of his colleagues and local volunteers, Garda Jones body was not recovered until the following morning approx 5 kilometres down river.

Oisín Greenan

"You could be having the worst day and then get a smile from Oisín, and nothing else would matter"

Oisín was born on 15 December 2010 in Holles Street. He suffered massive brain injury during birth and doctors didn't know if he would survive. Oisín defied the doctors' expectations many times over in his short life. Oisín was the most loving, adorable child who always brought out the absolute best in everyone whose lives he touched. Oisin is a Little Blue Hero and a honorory member of Stepaside Garda Station

This is a community fundraiser in support of local charity Dublin Wicklow Mountain Rescue Team and an opportunity to remember the spirit of Oísin and Ciaran on 27th March 2024.

This is a wonderful opportunity for our local community to come together.
