Story
⚠️ Trigger Warning | Mental health / suicide
Last year, I reached a point where I didn’t believe life was something I was strong enough to continue with. After a suicide attempt, I lost my leg and my kidneys shut down for a while — but due to work sounding the alarm and going out of their way to make a welfare call just in time, I thankfully didn't end up losing my life.
Recovery hasn’t been straightforward. It has been physical, emotional, and at times overwhelming. Learning to live in a new body, to trust myself again, and to find purpose after trauma has taken more strength than I ever imagined I had. There were days when simply getting out of bed felt like a victory.
But step by step — and now pedal by pedal — I am rebuilding.
This year, on my birthday, I’m taking on the Isle of Wight Sportive, riding 75 hilly miles on the road. For me, this isn’t just a cycling challenge. It’s proof of how far I’ve come. From learning to walk again, to returning to sport, to now taking on an endurance ride — this journey represents hope, resilience, and choosing to keep going.
I’m riding to raise money for CALM (Campaign Against Living Miserably), a charity that works tirelessly to prevent suicide and support people when they are struggling the most. Their work saves lives — and I know just how vital that support can be. £12.20 is enough to fund one potentially life-saving call.
If my story resonates with you, I’d be incredibly grateful for your support. Every donation, share, or message of encouragement helps fund life‑saving work and reminds others that even in the darkest moments, recovery is possible.
Thank you for believing in me — and in the power of hope.
