Steph's fundraiser for Newton Dee

Aberdeen Kiltwalk 2025 · 1 June 2025 ·
My name is Steph. I am taking part in the Aberdeen Kilt Walk on the 1st of June this year. We are trying to raise funds for our Capital Development Fund. The current project is a new Bakery and Confectionery. I used to work in the Bakery and still have lots of friends who work there. For those who know our Bakery and Confectionery bake fabulous artisan breads, delicious cakes, scones, croissants and amazing pizza.
Newton Dee's current Bakery and Confectionery building is old and worn. The required repairs would mean closing the workshops for over a year to carry out all the required work. Instead I would like to do my part to support the plan to build a new building up near our Store and Cafe. This would reduce traffic through the centre of our village and will make it safer for me to walk and cycle around the community. It will be handy to have the Bakery and Confectionary next to the Store where I work. I like collecting the bread from the bakery at the end of the day.
I learned that the new Bakery and Confectionery will also be much more efficient, reducing our carbon footprint and running costs for heating. The improved layout and function of the spaces will enhance the therapeutic qualities of the workshop, which is something positive for the people who work there as far as I understand.
I heard that we can build something where the old bakery building is in the heart of the Newton Dee Camphill Community, without having to close down the workshop where my friends work.
The bakery was recently on the news and one can see pictures of their work on social media. Have a look at the video below to see what the bakery team is up to.
Thank you for supporting me with my Kilt Walk - Steph
