Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Maisie, Lily, Matty and I along with my sister in-law Tyler , niece Paulie and nephew Charlie are taking part in Kami Bear’ Teddy trail to raise money to help support babies, children and young people in hospital. In May this year my daughter Maisie , age 7 was knocked down by a car. The ambulance arrived within minutes the paramedics were amazing and got us straight to A&E, Glasgow Sick Childrens Hospital. Maisie had partially collapsed lung, contusions on her lungs and air leaks from the lung into her chest as well as 5 broken ribs and other injuries. Maisie’s blood levels dropped therefore she was given a blood transfusion and Maisie spent a few nights in PICU where she was closely monitored by a great team of staff. We were moved to ward 3B and she continued to get better each day. She was looked after by lovely nurses, general surgeons , OT, Physio, pain team, play team and trauma coordinators Jenna and Mark. Jenna and Mark arranged for Maisie’s dad, little sister Lily and i to have a treat from KFC for Maisie being so brave . Maisie also had a visit to the cinema and staff there ensured Maisie felt comfortable. She also got a visit from the Clown Doctors which cheered Maisie and her sister Lily right up ! Maisie was reliant on oxygen during her stay so when she finally managed without the help of extra oxygen we got home after 11 days. Maisie has had a final chest X-ray which was clear and she is back to her normal self. We are so proud of Maisie with how well she coped and of her determination to get better. It was such a traumatic time for us as a family however every staff member we came across - from the lovely paramedics to the full team named above we will be forever grateful for the care and support we received. We would really appreciate your support. Every penny raised will make such a difference. Thank you!
