Story
In April 2026, I’ll be taking on the challenge of running the London Landmarks Half Marathon, followed by the Madrid Half Marathon two weeks later, in support of Bookmark. After taking a year’s break from running, this will be a real journey to rebuild my fitness - but I’m excited to take it on for a cause that truly matters.
Bookmark is a fantastic charity with a simple yet powerful vision: every child should be able to read.
Right now, one in four children leave primary school unable to read well, and disadvantaged children are disproportionately affected - often finishing primary school around a year behind their peers. Even more shocking, one in eight children in the UK doesn’t have a single book of their own at home.
The impact of poor literacy is lifelong. Children who struggle to read are more likely to leave school early, face unemployment, and even experience poorer health outcomes.
Bookmark works to change this by supporting children aged 4–11 in some of the UK’s most disadvantaged communities, helping schools build a strong reading culture and giving children the literacy skills they need for a brighter future.
Thank you so much in advance for any donation you’re able to give - big or small.
Your support genuinely makes a difference, and I’m incredibly grateful.
