Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Earlier this year (2024), my dad had an operation to remove a tumour in his oesophagus. Following the major surgery, there were complications that meant that my dad had fluid on his lungs and had to be intubated to assist with his breathing. He was so very poorly. While on ICU, he suffered many problems and at times wanted to give up. His resilience and perseverance shone through and was moved to a ward after 4 weeks.
He spent a total of 15 weeks in hospital at St James's. The care that he received from the staff was amazing. His surgeon went above and beyond - giving dads care the personal touch with finer details such as remembering my mums name and speaking to her like a person. Dad is now recovering at home and has started to eat for the first time since March - he is still being assisted with a feeding tube but making great progress.
The doctors and nurses supported myself and my family through what was an awful time and I want to give back.
I have been given the opportunity to run the TCS New York Marathon on 3rd November 2024 on behalf of team TCS Teachers. My training and my work have been my lifeline throughout this year. Inspiring children, both my own and within my school is so very important to me.
Please donate to this great cause.
