We are the only UK lung cancer charity dedicated to helping everyone affected by the disease. We fund essential research and provide much needed support, information and advice. We raise awareness and challenge the misconceptions of lung cancer. We do all this so those affected can expect better.

Story

A dear friend of ours, Graham 'G' Darby has been diagnosed with Stage 4 lung cancer. It has spread from his lungs to his neck, brain and stomach.

Until now G has been an active man and prior to his diagnosis regularly attended a local gym and this is where we met and have formed a wonderful friendship.

Therefore, it only felt appropriate to honour him and the superb team at the Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation who are helping him and his wife, Sarah and their family, through this period of their lives. We will do this by pushing ourselves to the limit by running a marathon and a half marathon in 2025.

As G goes through his treatment we will be pounding the streets of Bicester in readiness for the challenge of running 26.2 miles of the streets of Milan for the Whiz Air Milano Marathon in April and then running 13.1 miles of the iconic Great North Run in September.

JUST IN!! We have also signed up to run the Paris Marathon in April 2026.

Our hope is to raise significant funds to allow the foundation to continue to help and assist others like G and his family.

At Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation, it is our mission to ensure everyone diagnosed with lung cancer can live well with the disease for as long as possible.

For the past three decades, Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation has been the driving force behind lung cancer research, investing millions of pounds into the early detection of the disease. We have done this, and will continue to do this, because we know if lung cancer is caught early, curative treatment is possible.
