We urgently need a new home for our creative participation work which aims to: reduce social isolation; improve mental health; and build confidence. The Old Library is the perfect new space, and we are raising money to reopen it for our community.

Story

I have worked with the Corn Exchange Newbury for over 10 years and the growth of the organisation in that time has been monumental. As a team, we take pride in being hugely ambitious, and our aim to transform lives through the arts and reach as many people as possible, does not falter.

Not only as a loyal Corn Exchange team member, but as a Mum and Newbury resident, I truly believe in the positive impact the Old Library will have on our community, for young and old. So here I am, putting myself through something I don't find easy in order to help make it happen!

I will be participating in the Newbury 10k on Monday 27th May. I have run a half marathon, but that was many many moons ago and a lot has changed since then, so it is not going to be easy - please make it hard for me to give up and donate to this fundraiser.

WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT TO OPEN UP THE OLD LIBRARY!

We are asking you and everyone we know to help us reopen the historic Old Library as a new creative space for our community so that we can continue to transform lives through the arts.

Our creative participation work provides a lifeline to many local people and is more vital now than ever before:

- Reducing social isolation and loneliness within our community

- Improving mental health locally

- Supporting young people in building confidence and self-esteem

But currently it takes place in a temporary shared space and desperately needs a new permanent home.

The Old Library is the perfect new space and once complete will have dedicated engagement spaces, a small Café Bar and places to gather – benefiting more and more local people with the positive impact that participation in creative activity can have.
