On the 8th Oct I am running a 10k in support of MYTIME Young Carers.

Those that know me will understand that running this 10k will not be a walk in the park. Having enjoyed running and exercise for a long time, the somewhat traumatic birth of my daughter in 2016 meant my body suffered from various issues that made running untenable - getting back to running and exercise in general has been a 7 year challenge that still continues. Its has included intrusive hospital procedures and lots and lots of physio.

But I am in a really good place now and I am attempting my first 10k race in 9 years. My last 10k race back in 2014 was completed in 53 mins but to be honest just getting round this time will be a massive achievement for me on this journey back to running.

Whilst deciding to take part in this race I knew I wanted to rase money for a great cause. And so I am running for MY TIME young Carers.

Did you know that there are over 700,000 young carers in the UK, some as young as 5 years old? Having a 7 year old myself I can not think about her having to take on this additional responsibility at her age.

MYTIME exists to provide these remarkable young people with the support, opportunities and friendship that every child needs and deserves. As a charity, they receive no government funding at all, so rely on the support of our local community.
